Where to stay in Foum Zguid: the honest tour of the village

By the Desert Foum Zguid team · Updated 14 August 2026

Foum Zguid has about fifteen addresses: one comfortable hotel with a pool, riads and guesthouses, simple inns and three campervan sites. That is little, and it is enough — the village is a staging post, not a hotel destination. Here is the real offer, including the addresses we have no commercial link with.

The village offer, category by category

TypeKnown addressesWho it suits
Hotel with pool Bab Rimal The most comfort in the village; the most searched-for address online, booking advised in high season.
Riads & guesthouses Riad Hiba, Riad Assia, family houses The local charm: patios, home cooking, personal welcome. Our choice for the stopover nights of our tours.
Simple inns Auberge L'Oasis, Sable d'Or, Auberge Iriki Backpackers, bikers, tight budgets: clean, simple, tea included in the smile.
Campervan sites Bab Rimal, Camping La Palmeraie, Khayma Parc The N12 crews: basic services, guarded parking, and the village on foot — details in the campervan guide.
Desert camp in the dunes Our Erg Chigaga camp The real reason to come this far — from €70 a night, half board.

List drawn up in good faith in August 2026; the village evolves, prices too. We have no commercial stake in Bab Rimal, the riads or the campsites named here.

The advice a friend from the village would give

Don't build your stay around the village accommodation: build it around the night in the dunes, and treat the village as an airlock. The pattern that has always worked: arrive late afternoon, sleep in a guesthouse or at your campsite, leave on the tour the next morning, and keep the last night in the village for the long shower and the real bed before the road. One village night on each side of the desert — that is the formula, everything else is variation.

Where NOT to look

There is no large hotel chain in Foum Zguid, and the booking platforms list only part of the offer — several guesthouses take reservations by phone only. If a website sells you a "5-star hotel in Foum Zguid", that is a red flag about the website, not information about the village. For the stopover nights of our tours, everything is already arranged; for an independent stay, write to us — we will happily point out who has room, even when it earns us nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to book accommodation in Foum Zguid in advance?

Outside holidays and New Year's Eve, no: the village has more beds than visitors most nights. Three exceptions where you should plan ahead: New Year's week, Easter, and rally passages, which fill everything in a single evening.

Is there any upmarket accommodation in the village?

Bab Rimal positions itself as the most comfortable address in the village, with a pool. The rest of the offer is simple and clean — family-run inns and guesthouses. The real local luxury is not in the village: it is our luxury desert camp, two and a half hours of track away.

Do you recommend places you have a stake in?

We work with several guesthouses for the stopover nights of our tours, at public prices, with no hidden commission. This page also lists addresses we have no link with — Bab Rimal, the riads, the campsites. The sorting is done to be useful to you, not to earn us anything.
